SBA Supports SEE Limited with Double Materiality Workshop to Strengthen Sustainability Reporting

The Sustainable Business Alliance (SBA) has been proud to support SEE Limited in progressing their sustainability strategy through a recent double materiality workshop held at Aston University in Birmingham.

The workshop formed part of SEE’s “Impact Through Enterprise” project, which is focused on enhancing sustainability governance and preparing for evolving reporting requirements.

Led by Dr Ebenezer Laryea (Aston University), Dr Oluwaseyi Omoloso (University of Northampton), and SBA’s Simon Derrick, the session helped SEE explore 16 environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics using the SBA Materiality Compass — a structured tool designed to simplify the double materiality process for SMEs.

Participants worked through impact and financial materiality considerations, looking at how SEE’s activities affect people and planet, and how sustainability-related risks and opportunities could in turn affect the business. This approach aligns with expectations under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which many businesses in global supply chains are now expected to respond to.

The SBA provided facilitation, tools, and reporting guidance to support SEE Limited in identifying key material topics and beginning to align their reporting with recognised sustainability frameworks.

This work demonstrates how SBA can help other businesses navigate similar challenges — offering practical, tailored support to assess materiality, develop ESG reporting, and build strategies that deliver meaningful impact.
